My name is Don and I am a Kent based nature loving painter. I choose to paint on reclaimed material, including flooring, board and slate which I source locally. I am a self-taught artist and have been blessed to have grown up in a household with two other keen artists, my mother Cecilia and my brother David, from whom I learnt. Cycling as a 14 year old from Margate to Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory, my love and passion for birds and wildlife grew. Being a child in the 50's meant having a lot of time to create my own world and a great part of it was closely watching and sketching the characteristics and behaviours of animals I came across along the Kent coast. Though I have pursued a different career, sketching and painting have remained my true passion and I have carved time and space to practice, explore and express myself through these paintings.
Having the opportunity to paint, create and share the joy this practice jolts through me, feels like a true blessing!
